Chelsea set to bet Liverpool for a £58M signing of Romeo Lavia and sign Micheal Olise from Crystal Palace

(Football news) Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Southampton, could be signed by Chelsea before Liverpool does, and the Blues will also get Michael Olise from Crystal Palace before the transfer window closes. Tim Krul will join Luton Town in the Premier League again, while Al-Hilal will offer Neymar a sizable contract after the Brazilian accepted a transfer away from Paris Saint-Germain.

Romeo Lavia, a 19-year-old midfielder, will join Chelsea from Southampton for £58 million.

The Saints player has been the focus of a heated transfer war between the Blues and Liverpool, but he will head to Stamford Bridge to join Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Lavia appeared to be on the verge of joining Anfield when Jurgen Klopp targeted the former Manchester City youth product in an effort to bolster his midfield options, but the Reds were passed over.

As Chelsea’s spending under American owner Todd Boehly approaches the $1 billion mark, the agreement includes an additional £5 million in add-ons.

Following the activation of a release clause in the contract of winger Michael Olise, Crystal Palace is allegedly dissatisfied with Chelsea over their pursuit of the player.

The 21-year-old, who provided 11 Premier League assists last season, is nearly signed by Chelsea. This summer, Palace already lost Wilfried Zaha, and now it appears that another of their key players may be leaving.

Early on Tuesday, reports claimed an official offer had been made for the playmaker, with the £35 million price tag being sufficient to satisfy a release clause dubbed as “complex” by The Mail. According to the same source, Palace has informed Chelsea of their displeasure with how things have transpired since they feel their London rivals have “crossed the line” in terms of transfer protocol.

If the purchase of Olise is successful, Chelsea’s summer spending will surpass £300 million. It might not be their final transaction however, as negotiations to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia are still ongoing.
