Real Sociedad are reportedly actively working to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek

(Football news) After spending 12 years at Ajax, the Dutch international moved to Old Trafford in 2020 for a cost of €39 million. But in Manchester, things haven’t gone as he had hoped. The 26-year-old’s departure from Old Trafford this summer is now being discussed. Real Sociedad are quite interested in him, according to the Spanish publication Noticias de Gipuzkoa (via Fabrizio Romano).

Although it appears that talks are still going on, there is still no agreement between the two sides about the deal’s framework. Before making a push to recruit Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, Manchester United appeared eager for Fred and/or Van de Beek to depart.

Fred (30) has been connected to a transfer to Galatasaray. Van van Beek, on the other hand, has started just 23 games for the Premier League powerhouses over the past three seasons.

With his summer 2017 transfer to Old Trafford, Dutch midfielder Erik ten Hag was given hope for a fresh start. Ten Hag, who oversaw Van de Beek for four and a half years at Ajax, did not include him in his starting lineup this time.

Donny van de Beek played 175 games for Ajax’s senior team, scoring 41 goals and dishing out 34 assists en route to three trophies. From November 2017 to March 2021, the Netherlands also gave the Dutchman 19 caps. But to a large extent, his time at Manchester United has eclipsed his prior accomplishments.

Van de Beek hasn’t played the full 90 minutes in three straight league games since March 2020 and is now farther away from the Oranje team than he’s ever been. In the middle of this slump, Celtic great Neil Lennon has advised the player to relocate to Glasgow.

Celtic has been linked to a loan transfer for the Manchester United midfielder. Lennon, who has overseen the Scottish club for two stints, thinks the player ought to change.
