Young guns lead India to a series win in Ranchi

(Cricket News) The young Indian side has bamboozled ‘Bazball’ to clinch the 5-match test series at the JSCA International stadium in Ranchi. India beat England by 5 wickets, chasing 192 on a tricky 4th day track to win the 4th test and in the process also clinch the series.

The first hour of the day belonged to the Indians, however there was still some twist left in the game. India slipped from 84/0 to 120/5.

Post the dismissal of Rohit and Jaiswal, Shubman held one end, but wickets kept falling from the other. Rajat Patidar’s poor run continued as he was dismissed for a duck. He scored 4 off 33 balls before he was dismissed by Bashir off a full toss.

Sarfaraz Khan playing his second game didn’t trouble the scorers, being dismissed for a golden duck, giving Bashir his 8th wicket off the game. The hosts looked in all sorts of trouble and it felt that the Ranchi test might slip out of their hands. However, Dhruv Jurel and Gill had different plans.

Jurel after his first innings heroics, came into bat with India still needing 71 runs, and showed no signs of nerves. He brought a different kind of energy to the Indian innings, playing some positive shots and suddenly the runs started flowing with ease. Gill on the other hand, once again showcased his class and played a mature innings, bringing up yet another half century in the red-ball game.

Both the batters stitched 72 runs together and ensured that there were no further hiccups for the hosts. Dhruv Jurel was awarded the player of the match for his exceptional performances with bat in both the innings to help India to a memorable series win at Ranchi.
