(Cricket news) The 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to begin on the 23rd of February, with the final slated to be played on the 17th of March. The last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, will face each other in the opening encounter, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The 2nd edition of the WPL will be played at only two centers – Bangalore and Delhi. The first leg of the tournament will be played in Bangalore while the remaining matches including the playoffs and the finals will be played in Delhi.
The Bengaluru leg will run until March 4, and the WPL caravan will then move to the national capital where the competition will start the very next day. In the 24-day long season, there will be no double headers. All the matches will start at 7:30 PM IST.
The BCCI was planning to apply the traditional home-away format for the WPL, but logistical challenges forced the board to move the league to just 2 cities.
