(Cricket news) The latest report about the Indian cricket team is concerning Wriddhiman Saha. The gloveman has been informed by the BCCI selectors that he will be dropped from the Test side. The decision comes despite Saha performing well in the home series against New Zealand.

The reason for the decision is very clear that with Rishabh Pant being the first choice wicket keeper they want to groom a young wicket keeper who is likely to be K.S Bharat. Saha is already 37 years of age and doesn't have too many years left in the Test format. The decision would've made more sense if Saha hadn't been performing well but since he has been doing decently whenever called upon it looks harsh because age doesn't always mean decline especially in this case as the Bengal keeper only plays Test matches. 

K.S. Bharat and Ishan Kishan are the two main candidates while Bharat has been in the Indian squad once, Kishan has had a few 4-day games with India A. India also has KL Rahul who is more than capable of keeping wickets even if it means that he has to bat in the middle order. The reports might not be true and things could change when the new captain is appointed. 

Saha has also decided not to be a part of Bengal's squad for the upcoming Ranji trophy due to personal reasons which might have something to do with him being dropped from the Test side. The selectors have made quite a few big calls. What this will also do is put a little pressure on Rishabh Pant who right now doesn't have to fight for his position that much even though he has been just a tad bit inconsistent of late and has thrown his wicket away a few times. The Indian team is going through a transition in all formats so this might be the right time to move on from Saha because it will happen eventually.
