With the announcement of the first Tennis Cricket Ball World Cup and Asia Cup, both to be held by India, tennis cricket, a popular backyard sport in India, is making its international debut. This historic occasion recognizes the sport’s rising national popularity and officially launches it into international competition.
This action has been formally approved by the International Tennis Cricket Federation (ITCF), which emphasizes how quickly tennis ball cricket is spreading throughout India at the grassroots level. The Dream League of India, a brand-new, organized league that will act as the official selection process for the Indian teams participating in these historic international competitions, is the result of the domestic passion for the sport.
The Dream League will take place in a number of locations across the nation, promoting broad involvement and spotting untapped potential from all over the nation. Junior players ages 13 to 18 and seniors ages 18 and above are welcome to participate in open trials, which will be overseen by more than 1,500 trained coaches throughout multiple districts and locations.
There are six competing teams in each of the league’s two divisions, juniors and seniors. 860 players in each category will be selected from the nationwide trials to compete in the league auction, where team franchisees will put together their teams. ITCF selectors will be drawn to exceptional performers, who will then have the opportunity to represent India internationally.
Players who don’t sell at the auction will still have the opportunity to compete in the biggest Inter-Zonal Tournament in the nation. Each zone’s champion moves on to the All-Zonal Championship, and the eventual winners get to face the Dream League champions in the opening match of the next season. Players are given constant, merit-based chances to advance and establish themselves thanks to this arrangement.
As one league director put it, “This platform will transform raw talent into national pride by giving deserving players the chance to represent India internationally.” The league offers “a gateway to international recognition,” according to the head of the Tennis Cricket Association of India, where exceptional players will be rewarded with the opportunity to don the national jersey.
Prominent individuals have joined the effort to broaden the league’s appeal and audience. Sonu Sood, a Bollywood actor who has a reputation for encouraging amateur sports, has been named League Commissioner. Salim Merchant, a well-known musician, also supports the cause as an ambassador, bringing cultural relevance and establishing a rapport with the younger audience.
As it begins this exciting new chapter, tennis cricket in India is set to transform from a beloved hobby to a worldwide sport, inspiring both players and spectators with the Dream League as its cornerstone.
