(Football news) The 18-year-old Brazilian international came to Los Blancos from Flamengo in the summer of 2018 and has since made a name for himself at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Vinicius Junior has played in 235 games in all competitions for Real Madrid over the course of six seasons, tallying 63 goals and 67 assists. The attacker is considered a key component of Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Vinicius Junior has amassed nine trophies in his time with the Spanish powerhouses, including two La Liga championships, one Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, one Champions League, two FIFA Club World Cups, and one UEFA Super Cup.

In recognition of his humanitarian efforts to combat racism and give instruction in Brazilian public schools through The Vini Jr Institution, Vinicius Junior was also awarded the 2023 Socrates Award.

There had been rumours earlier this year that Vinicius Junior, a winger for Real Madrid, may consider leaving the team due to the racial taunts he has been the target of during La Liga matches.

Instead, though, the Brazilian has chosen to bind himself to the team for a further four years by signing a contract extension that is believed to have a £1 billion release clause.

“IMPOSSIBLE, but NOT IMPOSSIBLE!! The biggest and best club in the world!!”Vinicius Junior posted on Instagram after signing his new contract.

“Thank you Presi (President Florentino Perez), fans, colleagues and everyone who works at Real Madrid. Thank you family, friends and fans!! In the club of dreams until 2027 and for more titles together!!

Vinicius Junior is expected to play for Real Madrid in their next La Liga match at home against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
