UCL: Understaffed Real Madrid look to comeback against out of form PSG

(Football news) The 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 is underway. The big match is at the Santiago Bernabeu where Real Madrid are taking on PSG. The last leg in Paris ended 1-0 thanks to an injury time strike by Kylian Mbappe. It was one of Real Madrid's worst performances in the UCL.

Madrid have since recovered their form, having won their last 3 games including an emphatic 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday. PSG on the other hand have massively dipped in form. They lost 3-1 against Nantes after the first leg and also lost 1-0 to Nice on Saturday. The big issue for Los Blancos is that Casemiro and Ferland Mendy are suspended which means that defensively they will be weaker. Toni Kroos' availability is uncertain as he hasn't trained with the squad as of Monday. Carlo Ancelotti has the option of Nacho and Marcelo as David Alaba can play at left back or centre back.

A lot of talk was there about the fitness of Mbappe after received a knock in training but he has travelled with the squad. He should start the game after completing training at the Bernabeu on Monday. The trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will be tough to deal with for Real Madrid. The Los Blancos will have to press high, which is where Fede Valverde will come into play as his energy and ability to press high will be a big asset to Real Madrid. PSG defence often crumbles under pressure and that is exactly what Ancelotti has to do.

Manchester City will host Sporting CP at the Etihad Stadium. The champions of England won the 1st leg in Lisbon 5-0 and it would take a miracle for Sporting to comeback and win the tie. They can however hope to win at the Etihad and limit the damage. Manchester City will be without both their right backs as Joao Cancelo is out with an illness and Kyle Walker is suspended while Ruben Diaz and Nathan Ake are also out of contention due to injuries.
