(Football news) Last Friday, the hosts easily defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0, and the Toffees’ dreams of winning the EFL Cup were dashed in a quarterfinal match against Fulham that ended in a penalty shootout.

Spurs opened gameweek 17 with a commanding victory at the City Ground, hammering the last nail in Nottingham Forest’s coffin. This victory came despite playing the last 20 minutes of the match with just 10 men on the field.

Seconds remained in the first half, as Kulusevski set Richarlison up for a goal with an accurate cross. He then took advantage of Turner’s defensive blunder, as the Swede beat him at his near post after Turner could only clear the ball out to him under pressure from Son.

Even though Ange Postecoglou is now appearing happier on the Tottenham touchline, despite his stoic demeanor suggesting otherwise, Yves Bissouma’s second red card of the new season was an unnecessary stain on the Lilywhites’ notebook. Nevertheless, the win proved to be Cooper’s final game in the Forest dugout.

After successfully breaking out of their November slump, fifth-place Tottenham will reclaim their spot in the Champions League with a win this weekend. Meanwhile, Manchester City, who are only one point ahead of Tottenham, are competing in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup and won’t return to Premier League action until December 27.

After defeating Newcastle United 4-1 at home in their most recent encounter, the hosts have now scored in all 17 of their Premier League games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They have also scored in 29 straight top-flight games overall, which is the longest current record in the division.

Everton, who have played four Premier League games in December so far, are coming to North London with an unexpected 100% record in terms of points and clean sheets. The Toffees have also shown themselves to be particularly skilled in front of goal in recent weeks.
