(Football news) West Ham will go into this game coming off a 5-1 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s team in the EFL Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday night, while Erik ten Hag’s team drew 0-0 with Liverpool in their most recent game, leaving them in seventh place in the table on 28 points.

With three wins, one draw, and two losses from their six games in December, West Ham’s volatility has been evident. Their two losses this month were crushing ones, falling to Liverpool 5-1 in the EFL Cup quarterfinals and 5-0 against Fulham in the Premier League.

Due to the decision taken by head coach Moyes to rest a number of key players against Liverpool, the Hammers were eliminated from the League Cup after a very lackluster showing.

Man United, meanwhile, hasn’t played since their league match against Liverpool ended in a 0-0 draw last Saturday, which was a good outcome given the controversy surrounding the club before the match.

With the exception of a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at home in the Premier League on December 6, Ten Hag’s team has only won once in their last six games across all competitions. Since then, they have suffered losses at home to Bayern Munich and Bournemouth, with the draws at Anfield coming before the goalless draw.
