According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur has gained confidence in their chances to capture Dominic Solanke, a striker for Bournemouth, this summer

(Football news) The 26-year-old was one of the hottest attacking properties in the Premier League last season for a Cherries side who were tipped for relegation 12 months ago.

Solanke made the net ripple on 19 occasions and provided three assists in 38 top-flight appearances as Bournemouth comfortably avoided the drop.

Despite his stellar performances on the South Coast, the forward did not receive a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 in Germany.

With Harry Kane the first-choice option up top for the Three Lions, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney were handed supporting roles on the continental stage over the summer instead of Solanke.

Tottenham ‘increasingly confident’ of Solanke signing

Tottenham are confident that they will secure the services of Bournemouth and England marksman Solanke before the end of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the Lilywhites are willing to break their record transfer for a player by meeting the 26-year-old’s release clause of £65m.

The North London club paid £60m for the signature of Brazilian attacker Richarlison in 2022, with the former Everton man potentially on his way out this summer.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is keenly aware of serious interest in Solanke and recently stated that the Cherries have two or three potential replacements lined up should their talisman depart before the conclusion of the window.

Signing for South Coast club from Liverpool in 2019, Arne Slot’s Reds will receive 20% of the fee that Bournemouth earn from the sale of the ex-Chelsea man.

Is Solanke a good fit for Tottenham?

With reports earlier this week stating that Solanke has informed Tottenham of his desire for a move to North London, the question is now whether the attacker would be a good addition for Spurs.

Since the sale of the club’s all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer, Ange Postecoglou has been forced to operate without a recognised central striker.

The arrival of Solanke would certainly solve that issue for the Lilywhites, who often had to use captain and winger Son Heung-min through the middle last term.

Brentford’s Toney, Jonathan David and Viktor Gyokeres have also been linked with a move to Spurs, although the latter’s £80m release clause is understood to be too pricey for Tottenham at this stage.
