(Football news) Tottenham Hotspur now only have the top 4 race to focus on. Their next game is against Southampton who are rock bottom on the points table. Spurs’ win over Nottingham Forest was a good one but Forest were really poor on the day. Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 4th spot but Newcastle are just 4 points behind with 2 games in hand. Southampton are fighting for survival and a win against Tottenham Hotspur will be a massive result for them. Their last match was a disappointing 2-0 loss against Brentford and Ruben Selles will be hoping for an improved performance.

Tottenham Hotspur are still missing long term absentees Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon. Emerson Royal has been struggling with an injury so his availability is a doubt. Richarlison is once again likely to get the nod over Dejan Kulusevski on the right wing. As for Southampton Kyle Walker-Peters’ availability is a big doubt. Valentino Livramento remains out of contention along with Juan Larios and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. 

Antonio Conte’s contract with Tottenham Hotspur ends at the end of the season and the only chance he has of staying beyond that is to qualify for the Champions League next season. Newcastle and Liverpool are not that far behind and they will also be coming very hard after that 4th spot. The relegation battle on the other hand is wide open between 9 teams. Every point is precious for Southampton especially against a side in the top half of the table.
