(Football news) Arsenal on Saturday lost 1-0 against Everton which gave Manchester City a chance to cut down their lead but Tottenham Hotspur played spoilsport as they got a 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Pep Guardiola shocked everyone with line-up as he benched Kevin De Bruyne. Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez were up front with Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez behind them. Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Kyle Walker were in defence while Rodri and Rico Lewis were the midfielders.

One of the midfielders would drop into the back line off the ball as Guardiola had clearly prepared for a very defensive Tottenham Hotspur. In the 15th minute Pierre-Emile Hojberg nicked the ball off Lewis before setting up Harry Kane who scored with his first touch. The goal was Kane’s 267th for the club which takes him past the legendary Jimmy Greaves to become the highest goalscorer in the history of Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City just could not penetrate Tottenham’s rigid defense. The home side did go down to 10 men in the 87th minute after Christian Romero was sent off but City still didn’t test Hugo Lloris enough.

Pep Guardiola once again tried something different in a very important game and messed it up completely. Erling Haaland didn’t have a single shot on target because he didn’t get any sort of service. Hojbjerg was an absolute menace in midfield as he didn’t let City hold onto the ball for too long. Tottenham Hotspur have now won back to back games in the league. Manchester City are still 5 points behind Arsenal having played an extra game.
