Shami undergoes surgery for Achilles tendon

(Cricket News) The star Indian pacer, Mohammad Shami has undergone a surgery for Achilles tendon on Monday. He has not featured for the Indian side post the 50-over World cup at home, were he played a major role to take India into the finals.

Shami’s last appearance for the Indian side was in the finals of the World Cup at Ahmedabad, post which he has missed some important series, including the ongoing series against England. His availability for the IPL is uncertain. Also his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup is unsure, as his rehabilitation might take some time.

Shami in a social media post mentioned, “Looking forward to getting back on my feet.” He also mentioned that the recovery process will take some time, expressing hope to resume his cricketing journey soon. He shared this update through a social media post along with a picture of himself.

Shami has been crucial to India’s success in the last year. He had a dream World cup at home in Oct-Nov were he took 24 wickets in 7 matches. He has also been very crucial for the Indian red-ball side, delivering consistent performances. His absence can be a major blow, first to Gujarat Giants, his IPL franchise and also to the Indian side during the T20 World Cup in June.
