(Football news) Sardar Azmoun and Roma are about to agree on a short-term contract. Prior to his physical with the capital club this evening, the 28-year-old striker arrived in Rome earlier this afternoon.

Azmoun will be on loan from Bayer Leverkusen to Roma with a €12 million buy option.  The entrance of the Iran international was received with a cool reaction by Roma fans who raised concern over the player’s health and eligibility for the next Asian Cup.

Roma was informed by Azmoun that he has no plans to take part in the competition later this year. Azmoun has also healed from an injury he sustained a few weeks ago, contrary to earlier reports, and is anticipated to train frequently with the rest of the team.

The player is not the club’s final option to sign a non-EU citizen this year, either: Leandro Paredes played for Juventus last year and is not on the non-EU list, therefore Roma still have one spot available.
