Rishabh Pant declared fit for the upcoming IPL 2024

(Cricket News) The Indian wicket keeper-batter and the captain of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant has gotten the fitness clearance from the BCCI’s medical team as a keeper-batter for the upcoming IPL 2024. Pant underwent an extensive 14-month rehabilitation program prescribed by the National Cricket Academy after suffering multiple injuries in a car accident.

Pant suffered a near fatal accident on 31st Dec 2022 which made his sit out of the game for more than 15 months with some severe injuries. While he has been cleared as a ‘keeper-batter,’ but whether he takes on the gloves for DC from the very start would be an interesting thing to watch out for.

Pant has been working to regain fitness for more than an year, and IPL 2024 will be his first competitive tournament post the accident. Last month he was seen playing a practice match in Alur. His comeback will be crucial for the Delhi Capitals and is a very good news for all the Indian cricket fans.

Delhi Capitals suffered largely in Pant’s absence last year. They only managed to 5 out of their 14 games and ended second-last on the points table. In Pant, not only did they miss a batter, but more importantly they missed the leader of their pack. His comeback this year would be a huge boost for the Capitals heading into the new season.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna, the Rajasthan Royals pacer has been ruled out of the IPL. BCCI through their release confirmed that Prasidh will miss the season having recently undergone a surgical procedure on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. Gujarat Titans ace pacer Mohammad Shami will also not feature in the upcoming season after undergoing surgery on his right heel.
