Real Madrid sell multiple academy players while retaining 50% rights

(Football news) Real Madrid have had a very interesting summer so far. After winning the Champions League and La Liga, the club let three club legends i.e Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Isco leave for free and then made two stellar signings in the form of Antonio Rudiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Now President Florentino Perez and Manager Carlo Ancelotti have both publicly said that there will be no more incoming transfers. The Merengues have however stayed busy in selling players. What Real Madrid have done really well over the past few years is that they have handled the selling and loaning of players really well.

The club has already sold Luka Jovic to Fiorentina for free with a sell-on clause. Academy graduate Victor Chust, who spent the last season on loan at Cadiz was sold permanently for €1m. Madrid however have retained 50% of his rights which means that they will be in some control of his future. Los Blancos could sign the player back and will also have the right to refusal and a percentage of any future sales. They did the same thing with Mario Gila who was sold for €6m to Lazio and with Takefusa Kubo who was sold to Real Sociedad for €6m. Real Madrid are still working on doing something similar with Reinier Jesus and Miguel Gutierrez. The sales of both Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos looked imminent at the beginning of the window but the rumours have since died down.

Real Madrid are generating a good amount of money with these sales and at the same time they aren't losing the player completely. The system they have going is almost like a loan with a set fee and also it is very long term. If any of the players sold for 50% rights has an incredible season, then Real Madrid have the option of buying him back and if the player is sold to another club then too they get money from his sale. The players have a chance to get regular game time and then develop their career. There are potentially 6 to 7 players who could exit Real Madrid before the transfer window ends.
