Real Madrid have reportedly signed Kylian Mbappe in January itself

(Football news) Real Madrid's dramatic comeback against PSG in the UCL Round of 16 is still fresh in every football fans memory and a lot of things have changed since then. Fans have been convinced that signing the big names has not changed PSG's fortunes and people have started respecting Real Madrid's legacy even more.

The one thing that hasn't changed is Kylian Mbappe's transfer stand. Ever since the transfer move failed last summer, it has always looked like Mbappe will sign for Real Madrid on a free deal. After the result of the tie, any doubts in Mbappe's head would've been cleared. It is now more likely than ever that the French forward will play in the royal whites next season and there is nothing that PSG can do to change it.

Latest reports from Spain tell a slightly different story from what has been heard earlier. Ever since Madrid and PSG were drawn against each other, it was believed that Mbappe would start negotiating after the tie. Now it turns out that Mbappe in fact signed for Real Madrid in January 2022 itself. As per regulations, a player is officially allowed to sign a pre contract with any club once he is in the last 6 months of his contract. If the rumours are true then both Mbappe and Real Madrid have done nothing wrong.

It is now upto Real Madrid when they want to announce the signing. Journalists who knew about the deal were asked to not speak about it before but have now been given the permission to do so. PSG now are on the verge of losing the only player who played well in the UCL Round of 16 for free. It is even more frustrating for the French club that they would have earned up to €170 million had they let him go in the summer of 2021. They kept hold of him to play him in their dream team and still lost to the club where he was supposed to go.

PSG are in turmoil after the loss in a lot of aspects. The director and owner of the club are being investigated by UEFA for allegedly attacking the referees after the game in Madrid. PSG board are now reportedly looking for a new sporting director. Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr were jeered by Paris fans in their game on Sunday against Bordeaux even after the Brazilian scored in a 3-0 win. Messi's agent has reportedly asked Barcelona if Messi can come back to Catalonia.

That one loss and the way it happened has had more effect on the entire club than it should have. Real Madrid on the other hand will become a much better team with the addition of Mbappe. The rumours of Erling Haaland have dried up as it is believed that Manchester City are now favourites to sign the Norwegian. Madrid may go shopping in the summer for a right back, a left back, a centre half and a midfielder all of which are possible if they don't manage to get Haaland.
