Shakib and Mustafizur back for last 2 T20s against Zimbabwe

(Cricket News) Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladeshi all-rounder makes a return to white-ball cricket after a long layoff. Shakib will make a comeback to the side for the last two T20Is against Zimbabwe.

Shakib has been in and out of international cricket with an eye issue since the last edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup played in India. He was advised to make a conservative recovery, following the big event. This will now be his first white-ball game post the global event last year. The eye problem forced him to miss the New Zealand and Sri Lanka white-ball series.

The all-rounder however made a return to the red-ball format after a gap of nearly a year when he featured in the second game of the two-match series against Sri Lanka at home.

Shakib was not made a part of the side for the first three T20 games against Zimbabwe on his request. He wanted to play some domestic games before being a part of the national side. He therefore featured in the Dhaka Premier league to prepare himself for the bigger challenges of the International games.

The left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has also been included in the 15-member squad for the 4th and the 5th T20Is. Mustafizur was allowed a break by the BCB in order to participate in the Indian Premier League where he was a part of the Chennai Super Kings.

Mustafizur enjoyed a pretty decent season with the 5-time champions at the IPL before returning for his national duties. He played a crucial role for CSK with the ball, specially in the middle and the death overs.

Another all-rounder Soumya Sarkar has also made a way back to the side after recovering from a knee injury he sustained during the last game of the three-match ODIs against Sri Lanka at home.

Bangladesh decided to give a break to Shoriful Islam while Afif Hossain and Parvez Hossain failed to make the cut.

“We have given rest to Shoriful. Both team management and Shoriful felt he needed to spend time with his family. We want him to come back after recharging himself as he’s been playing cricket in one stretch for a long time,” selector Abdur Razzak said.
