Ralf Rangnick to not take up consultancy role at Manchester United

(Football news) Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will not stay on at the club as a consultant next season. The German guided the Red Devils to their worst ever Premier League tally of 58 points with zero goal difference, an underwhelming tenure to say the least. However, it can also be said that Rangnick inherited a disjointed and under-performing squad from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the 63 year old has also failed to implement his own brand of exciting, modern and high pressing style of football.

A statement by Manchester United said “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford. We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career." When new manager Erik ten Hag was asked about Rangnick and whether he will implement his predecessor’s views in his first press conference, the Dutch manager said “I think it's part of my analysis. I observe and I speak with a lot of people. But finally I will draw my own line."
