Antonio Conte to remain at Tottenham Hotspur next season

(Football news) Antonio Conte has decided to stay on at Tottenham Hotspur next season after having positive talks with the club's managing director Fabio Paratici in Turin on Friday. The Italian’s future at the club was doubtful, despite guiding Spurs to the Champions League in the 21/22 season, but will now stay on for the remainder of his contract at the very least, which is due to expire in 2023.

Conte has a reputation for being notoriously demanding and one of the reasons he was coy about his future at the club was due to the ambiguity of whether the management will support him in the transfer market. Earlier this week, Spurs owners ENIC announced a cash injection of £150 million ($187.64m)  to help provide "greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch." According to various sources, Conte has demanded six summer signings in order to transform the club into a team that can potentially challenge for the Premier League title.

The club will now be implementing an aggressive transfer strategy in order to sign a central midfielder, two wing-backs, a back-up striker and one centre-back, as per Conte’s demands. Spurs are also keen to give Harry Kane a contract extension and with Manchester City signing Erling Haaland, Kane’s future at Tottenham, especially with Champions League football has never been more secure.

Conte has set his sights on Ivan Perisic, who played under the Italian manager at Internazionale as well as Torino centre-half Gleison Bremer, who is expected to join Inter. Alessandro Bastoni is also a potential transfer target and at just 23 years of age, he could be the ideal fit for the London based side. The team are also obligated to buy Cristian Romero for €55m (£46.6m) as per the terms of his deal when he moved from Atalanta on loan and are yet to make a decision on Dejan Kulusevski who joined from Juventus on an 18 month loan spell with an option to buy for €30m.
