(Football news) Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have signed 19 year old Nuno Mendes from Portuguese club Sporting CP for a fee of £34m on a contract valid till June 2026. Mendes had joined PSG on loan last summer, making 37 appearances and providing two assists for the club and the left-back was one of the four players in the team to make it to the Ligue 1 team of the year. He has also made 13 senior appearances for his national team Portugal, representing the A Seleção in the Euro 2020.
A statement released by PSG read “Paris Saint-Germain has completed the permanent transfer of Nuno Mendes. The Portugal left-back is now tied to the club from the French capital until 30th June 2026.” Mendes played in all eight Champions League matches for PSG last season and featured 27 times in Ligue 1 where he lifted the domestic title.
