(Cricket news) When asked about his retirement plans at the toss against the Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow, the former India cricketer delivered a googly and informed commentator Danny Morrison that he had never made any statements regarding whether or not the TATA IPL 2023 would be his final season.

The four-time TATA IPL champion captain’s comment was sufficient to spark discussion about the whispers of his impending retirement, and even the acclaimed professionals on the Star Sports commentary team weren’t immune to it.

When asked about MS Dhoni’s TATA IPL future, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh said that only Dhoni knows when he will retire.

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Harbhajan Singh said, “Only MS Dhoni knows when Dhoni will retire. I said last year that will play this year. I don’t know if he will play next year as well. Yes, if he plays next year, the fans will be happy to see him playing. Fans have always wanted to see him playing.”

Mohammed Kaif, a former cricketer for India, continued by emphasising the value of MS Dhoni, who serves as both a coach and a player for the CSK team.

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Mohammed Kaif said, “Mahi is no longer playing as a player but as a mentor. He chooses the team. Let’s get on the field. He does not tease the seniors much but keeps on teaching the youth all the time. He wants every player, playing under him, to perform well as it will make the team’s job easier.”

In order to keep up their winning streak, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play Kolkata Knight Riders. Abhishek Sharma, a young SRH batsman, will be the focus of everyone’s attention during the match. Everyone has been amazed by the superb batter’s reliable batting. Yusuf Pathan, a former cricketer for India, praised the elegant left-handed batter and expressed confidence in his future.

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Yusuf Pathan said, “Abhishek Sharma has a bright future ahead of him. He’s played some brilliant shots in the tournament. He’s good against spinners, I think he’s going to play for the national side as well.”

The teenager was described by former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh as a proper batter that the SRH should train for the future.

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Harbhajan Singh said, “Abhishek Sharma is a proper batsman, who loves to open the innings. He’s been playing for Punjab for quite some time now and opens innings for them as well. He’s a player whom SRH team management should start preparing for the future and even groom him to be the future captain of the side.”
