Djokovic is serious about this week after dropping only five games in his opening match against Alexandre Muller. He is aiming to become the first player, male or female, to win 24 Grand Slam titles in the Open Era after reclaiming the World No. 1 ranking.

While this was going on, Djere continued his remarkably effortless development by defeating Hugo Gaston in straight sets.

The 28-year-old improved to 30-20 on the season after losing one game in his first game and only five more games overall in the remainder of the game.

The Serb is currently 3-5 in Flushing Meadows, having won only once in five prior appearances. Earlier this week, he defeated Brandon Nakashima in straight sets.

In the second round of the 2022 Belgrade tournament, Djokovic defeated Djere in their only previous encounter. Their first encounter will take place on a hardcourt.

Predictions

Djokovic and Djere are both classic baserunners, but that is the extent of their similarity as players.

Although Djokovic may not be the biggest server or the strongest ball hitter, he excels on all surfaces and is recognised as one of the sport’s top returners. Djere, on the other hand, is primarily a counter puncher and has more subdued characteristics.

Djokovic also has a significant advantage with his greater knowledge, dependability, and pedigree, particularly at Grand Slams where he has 356 victories.

Djere, meanwhile, has only triumphed in 13 games at the Majors. In light of this, anticipate Djokovic to secure another convincing victory to advance to the second week.
