Netherlands A win the second One Day by 5 wickets to square series with Ireland Wolves

OAK HILL, Wicklow – Vivian Kingma of Netherlands A’s rattled the Ireland Wolves early, to bring up a 5-wicket victory for his team in the rain-affected second game on Wednesday at Oak Hill Cricket Ground in Wicklow.

After the clinical victory by the Wolves in the first match of the series, skipper Harry Tector elected to bat first after winning the toss – but, couldn't repeat the batting heroics from the last game as the men in green were reduced to 10-5 within 6 overs. For the Dutch, bowlers like Vivian Kingma (3-5) and Paul van Meekeren (2-28) found early pace, bounce and movement to put up an impressive show with the ball.

Previous game's hero Shane Getkate was once again left with the responsibility to save the innings, and his 32 was another significant contribution with the bat after his 74* in the last game.

With wickets falling from the other end, Craig Young walked in and offered the much needed support to Getkateit while the side was struggling on 55-8. Young scored his best List A score of 30 from 21 deliveries, however, fell to a spooned catch at the cover.

The Wolves eventually got skittled out for 94 in 23.5 overs.

The Dutch side endured the loss of two early wickets as Young and Graeme McCarter removed Vikram Singh (0) and Ben Cooper (5). Stephen Myburgh along with Netherlands A skipper Scott Edwards stabilised the chase before McCarter dismissed Myburgh for 23 and Bas de Leeds got out for a duck.

Edwards kept the scoreboard moving  and slammed a big six off Ben White to seal the game, with Netherlands A achieving 98-5 in 16.3 overs itself.

The Wolves’ put up a decent bowling performance with Chase (2-31) and McCarter (2-36) claiming two wickets apiece, however the total was too small to defend.
