(Motorsports news) At the British Grand Prix, McLaren’s woking-based team shocked everyone by taking advantage of a number of recent modifications to secure a spot on the front row with Lando Norris and place second behind race winner Max Verstappen. Mclaren’s team owner Andrea Stella claims that other improvements are being made at the factory that might make it even faster rather than feeling that this is the season’s top for it.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, McLaren is presenting an update to the MCL60 as part of its original plan, and the team claims that other changes will almost probably follow at other races as well. Team owner Andrea Stella discussed the strategies, saying, “For Hungary, McLaren have some further upgrades that will help more from the point of trying to increase the race pace. Both drivers will have access to these.

However, we will continue to provide certain enhancements for the upcoming races, just like every other team. This is also a result of the fact that performance was sort of unleashed once we started redesigning the vehicle. And as we go through revisions, we continue to see how well the aerodynamic evolution works.

“You press the go button and you go as soon as you see that a project is mature enough to deliver, so there will be some more stuff coming even after Hungary.” McLaren had great hopes that its most recent upgrade package would improve its performance, but Stella admits that it did not anticipate experiencing the magnitude of the rise it did.

“Sometimes you actually find surprises,” he stated, referring to the changes that we brought to Austria and this location. From a lap time perspective, “numerically, we weren’t expecting this improvement.” While Stella is aware that the high-speed aspect of the course overshadowed the British GP performance, it is obvious that the MCL60 has improved its form.

He stated that the results of the event were “clearly quite encouraging.” “We were surprised by our own ability to keep Mercedes and Ferrari behind us in the first stint. We anticipated that they would provide a pace issue for us. So, even in terms of race pace, we must admit that the improvement appears to be genuine.

However, as I keep reminding you, this is a circuit with fast turns, and in Silverstone, some of the fast turns are flat during qualifying but turn quickly during the race. “At the same time, the weather was chilly. I keep being cautious that we might be overstating the case because of these circumstances, but I think it’s fair to admit that the car also appears to be more competitive in the race.
