(Football news) George Russell correctly predicted after qualifying that McLaren also had outstanding race pace and that the orange cars would not fade on Sunday, and he was correct after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri qualified second and third for the British GP. In the end, Norris came in second after edging Russell’s teammate Lewis Hamilton, and Oscar Piastri came in fourth after falling short of Hamilton by making his pit stop before the safety car.

George Russell acknowledged that Mercedes had to up its game after pointing out that McLaren had already displayed great speed at the last race in Austria. He remarked of the Woking team, “I see no reason why they shouldn’t be up there today. We arrived from Red Bull Ring, a track very unlike Silverstone. On both occasions, they were just a step ahead of us.

“So I’m puzzled as to how they managed to find this much performance. It has been rather unexpected. We don’t frequently pay too much attention to our rivals. We only need to maintain our attention on ourselves. Yes, it encourages us to believe that it is achievable, but we must work harder and quickly find better performance.

Lewis Hamilton, along with Russell, acknowledged that in both the British and Austrian races, McLaren’s vehicle was faster than Mercedes’. Yes, 100%, and last week,” he responded. But since this is the first time in a while and they earned the performance they received, we must improve. They’ve now outperformed us in terms of quality.

The addition of more teams was welcomed by Hamilton, who declared: “I think this is one of the most exciting times the sport has ever seen, when we’re finally starting to see the rules pull people together. “You saw that Alex Albon and Williams were up there. We have a lot of teams that are getting quite close; little margins during qualifying are exactly what we need. You’ve seen the McLarens and the Astons already. I, therefore, looking forward to watching the rest of the year develop.
