In the summer, Kylian Mbappé’s twenty-five-year tenure with Paris Saint-Germain came to an end. But he told beIN Sports that he might have played his whole career there if it weren’t for Real Madrid’s desire.
He had a bitter break with the French club. Mbappé’s playing time decreased toward the close of the previous season as Les Parisiens were ready for life without him after he revealed his intention to leave on a free transfer in February. Prior to that, in the summer of 2023, he was even shunned by the squad and left out of the preseason tour of South Korea and Japan as PSG made a last-ditch effort to sell the forward in order to raise money.
He has been involved in a pay dispute with his former club since leaving PSG. Mbappé is demanding bonuses and three months’ worth of unpaid salary. But, as he has disclosed, if Real Madrid hadn’t shown interest, he may have played his entire career at PSG.
“I’ve always maintained that [PSG] was among the greatest clubs in the world and the largest in France. In an interview with beIN Sports, he started, “I only left to go to the biggest club in the world.”
“I have consistently stated that it is the only team for which I would have left PSG.” I would have spent my entire life at PSG if I had been unable to attend Real Madrid. I worked at PSG for seven years. It was a privilege. I was always aware of where I was and of how big a club PSG was,” Mbappé added.
