2025 NBA Rookies to Watch for Fantasy

Now that the combine is over and the 2025 NBA Draft is less than a month away, excitement is growing over the newest generation of players ready to leave their mark.  In his most recent mock draft, Yahoo Sports NBA Senior Analyst Kevin O’Connor revealed a class that appears more talented and deep than the rookies from the previous season.

Cooper Flagg is one of the standouts; his combination of agility, defense, and effective scoring makes him an attractive multi-category fantasy asset from the start.  Flagg’s worth is further enhanced by his ability as a facilitator, even though his three-point shooting is still up in the air.  It might be quite profitable to target him in the sixth or seventh round in fantasy drafts.

The Charlotte Hornets are expected to sign Edgecombe, which is both a boon and a bane.  Despite having unrealized potential, the Hornets are a club beset by ailments.  Nevertheless, Edgecombe’s abilities as a disruptive defender and scorer perfectly complement their requirement for a dependable two-guard.  His potential as a fantasy player is enhanced by his athleticism and capacity to work with LaMelo Ball.  If he stays in Charlotte, he might be a value below the top 100 choices due to his defensive ability and scoring potential, which is highlighted by comparisons to Victor Oladipo.

Knueppel, a possible choice for the Utah Jazz, has more to offer than simply excellent shooting.  He might help the Jazz with their turnover problems and offensive difficulties since he is a fundamentally sound player who is excellent at creating and facilitating plays.  His shooting and cunning play are similar to Chris Mullin’s, which is encouraging for fantasy owners if he receives regular playing time.

Johnson, a freshman from Texas, has the shooting and playmaking ability to help the Washington Wizards cover important gaps.  His status as one of Washington’s best three-point shooters suggests a possible route to minutes, despite the fact that his defense needs improvement.  Johnson is still a player to monitor even though dynasty leagues could be a better fit for him.

The Chicago Bulls  The prospect of Nikola Vucevic moving on greatly improves Queen’s fantasy outlook.  Queen’s stature and offensive skill set make him a unique offensive hub who might play effectively in a limited number of minutes, despite doubts about his defense and explosiveness.

Newell’s unwavering enthusiasm and rim-running skills make him an excellent match in Atlanta, particularly in the event that Clint Capela leaves.  His quickness and rim-protecting ability enhance the Hawks’ developing frontcourt.  Newell might develop into a fantasy sleeper with high productivity per minute if he plays with Trae Young.

If the Minnesota Timberwolves lose Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Coward may be a wise late-round selection.  Fantasy managers searching for high-upside rookies will find excitement in Coward’s near-perfect shooting, tremendous wingspan, and great defensive instincts, which are compared to those of Kawhi Leonard.

Lastly, Pettiford is a fantastic bench spark for Los Angeles because of his speed, ability to score, and ability to create plays.  Even though he isn’t currently a redraft league target, dynasty leagues are interested in him because of his ability to light up the scoreboard in a reserve position.

It appears that fantasy basketball fans will have access to a large number of talented rookies in this 2025 selection class who might have a significant influence the following season.
