(Football news) The 22-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2024-25 campaign for Frankfurt, scoring 22 times and registering 12 assists in 48 appearances, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months.
A number of major European clubs are believed to be interested in Ekitike, and according to Sky Deutschland, Man United are in the picture when it comes to the Frenchman.
The report claims that the 20-time English champions are exploring the conditions of a deal, with the club looking to determine how much money would be required to sign him.
Frankfurt are believed to be demanding around £85m for Ekitike, with the striker having another four years left to run on his contract, placing the Bundesliga outfit in a solid position.
Manchester United ‘make contact’ over potential Ekitike deal
The forward started his professional career with Reims before making the move to Paris Saint-Germain, initially on loan, but he found it difficult to show his best form for the capital giants.
Ekitike ultimately only managed four goals and four assists in 33 matches for PSG, but he has thrived since making the switch to Frankfurt, boasting a record of 26 goals and 14 assists in 64 appearances.
The Frenchman certainly fits the brief when it comes to Man United’s transfer policy, as the club look to sign the best young talents in world football, but it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be struck.
Indeed, Frankfurt are not under any pressure to sell, and it is tough to imagine Ruben Amorim’s side going to £85m.
What is the latest with Gyokeres?
Sporting Lisbon’s president has insisted that Viktor Gyokeres will not be allowed to leave on the cheap this summer.
Manchester United have a firm interest in the Sweden international, but Arsenal are also being linked with him, and it is not a straightforward deal to complete this summer.
Reports coming out of Portugal on Thursday evening have suggested that Arsenal have now launched an offer for Gyokeres, thought to be in the region of £51m plus bonuses.
That is not expected to be close to enough to sign Gyokeres, though, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United make an offer of their own, especially with the club now seemingly switching their attention to Ekitike.
