(Football news) The hosts, who lost the rematch against the Manchester United at Old Trafford in August of last year by a contentious 1-0 score, will be looking for retribution.

In the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, Wolves defeated rivals West Bromwich Albion 2-0 to extend their winning streak to seven games across all categories. However, crowd unrest at The Hawthorns overshadowed the Black County derby.

After Pedro Neto’s first-half goal, Matheus Cunha scored in the 78th minute, but unpleasant situations in one area of the field prompted the match to be stopped for around 38 minutes. A number of players, including Kyle Bartley of West Brom, who had stepped in to get his daughter out of the stand, were brought off the pitch.

Since then, the FA has announced that they will look into the “inexcusable” violence that resulted in the arrest of six people and the injury of other fans and police officers. One fan was taken away by paramedics on a stretcher, and another had blood streaming down his face.

Gary O’Neil condemned the violent scenes that broke out off the field, but he was full of praise for the manner of the performance on the pitch from his Wolves side, who must quicky shift their focus back to the Premier League as they endeavour to build on their strong run of form and climb from 11th place into the top half of the table.

Wolves, who have picked up the second-most points (14) in the Premier League since December 5, will welcome a return to Molineux where they have not lost any of their last eight Premier League home games, beating Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea during this period.

However, the West Midlands outfit have suffered defeat in six of their last seven top-flight encounters with Thursday’s opponents Manchester United, losing each of their last three without reply.

Man United secured their spot in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday with an exciting 4-2 away victory over a motivated Newport County team, two weeks after playing out a 2-2 home draw with Spurs in the Premier League.

The Red Devils looked to be in control after goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo inside the first 13 minutes, but they were given a serious scare when their League Two opponents equalized with a goal each side of halftime. Unfortunately, Rasmus Hojlund’s late goal kept Man United’s modest hopes of winning a trophy alive after Antony scored his first goal of the season in any tournament.
