Man United has dropped five of its first nine games in all competitions this season, including four of its first seven Premier League games of 2023–24. The next catastrophe is never far away for Man United.

The Red Devils have had their poorest start to a league campaign in 34 years after Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Palace at Old Trafford, which dropped them to 10th place in the standings with just nine points from seven games.

After losing 4-3 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on September 20, Erik ten Hag’s team did manage to defeat Burnley and Palace in back-to-back victories in the league and EFL Cup, respectively. However, they were unable to defeat a tough Palace team at Old Trafford last time.

Due to their defeat in Munich, Manchester United is already playing catch-up in Group A. Ten Hag will undoubtedly be under pressure to do well on Tuesday so that the team can return to the Premier League and host Brentford at Old Trafford.

Prior to the international break, two victories would inspire optimism; nevertheless, two losses or other disappointing outcomes would exacerbate the discontent of the club’s supporters.

The last time Manchester United and Galatasaray played was in the group stage of the 2012–13 Champions League, with the United winning 1-0 at Old Trafford but losing 1-0 in Turkey. The head–to–head record between the two teams is two wins to one draw in three of their previous encounters.

Galatasaray is taking part in the Champions League group stage for the first time since the 2019–20 season, and they haven’t advanced further than that since the competition’s knockout round in 2013–14.

In their initial Group A match, Galatasary and Copenhagen were able to play to a 2-2 tie, with goals from Sacha Boey and Tete in the dying minutes giving the Istanbul hosts a share of the victory.

Okan Buruk’s team will enter this match off of a 2-1 league victory over Ankaragucu on Saturday, and they undoubtedly have players that can hurt Man United. Mauro Icardi is off to a great start to the season, and a certain Wilfried Zaha should have the opportunity to face his former team.

Galatasaray has lost 14 of its last 17 away games in the Champions League, but the Istanbul giants are undefeated in their last 20 games across all competitions. In their previous 10 away games against English opponents, Galatasaray has lost three, drawn three, and lost seven times.
