(Football news) The Red Devils are expected to be active during the winter market, with new head coach Ruben Amorim likely to be given funds to improve the squad despite the financial limitations that will be in place.

The English giants are believed to be keen to sign a forward and a central midfielder at the start of 2025, and according to multiple reports, Baturina is firmly on the club’s radar.

The 21-year-old has been in excellent form for Dinamo during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring twice and registering seven assists in 17 appearances in all competitions, including one goal and one assist in the league phase of the Champions League.

Manchester United are allegedly lining up a January move for the midfielder, but they could face competition from Barcelona, with the Catalan outfit also believed to be keen on his signature.

Atletico Madrid are also believed to have been tracking the midfielder this season, so Manchester United would likely face strong competition for the Croatian if they did decide to launch an official offer.

There is not thought to be a release clause in Baturina’s contract, and he has a deal with Dinamo until June 2028, placing the club in a strong position when it comes to any potential negotiations.

Baturina came through the youth system at Dinamo, and he has represented his current side on 137 occasions in all competitions, contributing 18 goals and 34 assists in the process.

The midfielder is also a seven-time Croatia international, making his debut last November, and he is in their squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Scotland and Poland.

How much would Baturina cost?

There have been suggestions that Dinamo would be willing to let Baturina leave for around €20m (£16.6m), which makes it an affordable January deal for Manchester United.

The club’s minority shareholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is in charge of the football department at Old Trafford, is expected to make a relatively small amount of money available in January, with Amorim determined to boost his squad.

Baturina has largely operated as an attacking midfielder for Dinamo this season, but he is also capable of featuring in a deeper position and could potentially be one of the central two in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

There are question marks over the futures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen at Old Trafford, so midfield is an area that will need boosting in the near future despite the arrival of Manuel Ugarte over the summer.
