Pep Guardiola finally leads Manchester City to a maiden Champions League title
Manchester City

(Football News) Manchester City defeated Inter Milan to win the 2022/23 Champions League. Pep Guardiola’s men have been dominating England for the past 6 years but European glory was always missing. Now that they have finally managed to win the Champions League, Manchester City have won every possible trophy under Pep Guardiola. The final in itself wasn’t Manchester City’s best performance as Inter Milan played really well on the day. The injury to Kevin De Bruyne in the 36th minute was a big factor but in the end, the result was in their favor.

Inter Milan played well and came close to scoring on numerous occasions. A 68th-minute goal from Rodri was enough to seal the victory for Manchester City. Ederson made a couple of good saves towards the end to keep a clean sheet. City topped their group with Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund, and FC Copenhagen. They then managed to defeat RB Leipzig 8-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16. After that, they went past European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. City made a statement by handing heavy defeats to both of them.

Now that Manchester City have broken the curse and won the Champions League it could open the floodgates. It was pretty evident that City crumbled in the UCL and now that they have the experience of winning it, they might win a few more at least till Pep Guardiola is here. The Spaniard has a contract till 2025 but a renewal looks imminent. Manchester City also won the treble making them the 2nd English team to do so after Manchester United. The treble is also Guardiola’s 2nd which is a ridiculous achievement. The team that stopped Manchester City from winning the quadruple is Southampton who finished bottom of the Premier League this season.
