(Football news) Chelsea will visit Elland Road on Sunday to take on Leeds United, hoping to make amends for last weekend’s draws where both the teams gave up their lead and only secured a point. Thomas Tuchel will undoubtedly want his team to be more clinical this time around and create more meaningful opportunities to maintain their unbeaten start in the Premier League. As for Leeds, they gave up a two goal advantage against Southampton last weekend but remain one of teams that are unbeaten in the league so far and Jesse Marsch will hope to maintain that.
In team news for Chelsea, N’Golo Kante will be unavailable for selection due to a hamstring injury and will be out for a few weeks while Mateo Kovacic has a knee problem which means one of Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Conor Gallagher will feature in the team’s midfield. Reece James is expected to return in wing back with Cesar Azpilicueta featuring in a back three and Kai Havertz is expected to start the game while Armando Broja has a minor fitness issue. As for Leeds, the likes of Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are injured while Daniel James could be the only change in the team’s starting XI.
Reigning champions Manchester City will visit St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Sunday. City will hope to maintain their winning start in the league while the Magpies also remain unbeaten so far but drew their last match. The hosts will undoubtedly be aiming to finish higher than 11th from last season and are bolstered by new signings Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Matt Target but face a tough test against Pep Guardiola’s City.
In team news, Jonjo Shelvey is injured for Newcastle while Matt Targett, Ryan Fraser and Emil Krafth remain doubtful. Sven Botman is expected to partner Fabian Schar in a back four with Dan Burn expected to feature in left back if Targett is unavailable for selection. Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Joe Willock are expected to feature in midfield while Callum Wilson is expected to be selected over Chris Wood up front.
As for City, Aymeric Laporte is injured which means Nathan Ake is expected to feature with Reuben Dias. Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan are most likely going to feature in midfield behind Kevin De Bruyne and Guardiola is expected to rotate from his forward options with Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva available for selection and Erling Haaland featuring as striker. Despite Newcastle United’s form at home, a City win is the most likeliest result in this fixture.
