Emerson Palmieri is set to join West Ham for a fee of £13m

(Football news) West Ham United are set to sign Emerson Palmieri in a potential £13m move. The deal broke down earlier because of personal terms with the 28-year-old left back but with interest in Emerson growing in the Serie A, Hammers boss David Moyes still needing some players in defence after signing Thilo Kehrer, West Ham quickly went back for Emerson, and were ready to pick up where they left off.

The deal is said to be around £13m, with add-ons of £2m but maybe this time around they have agreed personal terms as well. Emerson is said to be keen on the move, though obviously that will depend on what sort of contract West Ham are offering him. As much as Chelsea want him off the books, he is not going to jump at any old offer. The Hammers currently are over-reliant on Aaron Cresswell to play the left back role. Moyes found out last season that the club struggled to cope with injuries and often used Cresswell to play as a centre back.. Emerson Palmieri’s name emerged almost 2 weeks ago as the Hammers considered making a move for the Italian international.

The Hammers initially decided to walk away from the deal due to Emerson’s excessive wage demands. Moyes was expected to look at other summer targets but the other targets didn’t meet his requirements as the club went back in for the Italy international. According to reports discussions are still ongoing with Chelsea as the two clubs are reportedly close to agreeing on a fee. As things stand, this deal could be completed today with Emerson’s arrival likely to add more quality in depth to West Ham’s defence. West Ham United have endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, losing both their opening games. They will face Brighton at the weekend and hope to collect three points.
