(Cricket News) June 20 will forever hold a significant place in the history of Indian cricket, as it marks the Test debuts of three legendary cricketers – Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli. While Ganguly and Dravid made a stunning entrance into the challenging realm of Test cricket back in 1996, with Ganguly scoring a century and Dravid notching 95, Kohli’s debut was relatively subdued. His initial performance against West Indies in Kingston in 2011 saw him scoring only 4 and 15 runs, culminating in a forgettable series with a mere 76 runs from three Tests.

Nonetheless, thanks to MS Dhoni’s unwavering faith in Kohli, the young cricketer was retained for the four-Test series against Australia later that year, and that marked the turning point. Kohli showcased his talent by smashing an impressive 76 in Perth and followed it up with his maiden Test century in Adelaide. From that moment on, there was no looking back. Now, twelve years later, Kohli has cemented his status as one of the greatest batters the game has ever seen, and he continues to shine brightly in the cricketing world.

Amidst this significant occasion, Kohli, renowned for his unwavering affection for Test cricket, chose to commemorate the moment by sharing a special message on his social media platforms: “12 years in Test cricket today. Forever grateful.” While his post garnered immense popularity among fans, it unintentionally triggered a few startled reactions as some followers momentarily mistook it for a retirement announcement, leading to what could be described as a ‘mini heart-attack’ for those individuals.
