Kl Rahul and R Jadeja ruled out of the Vizag test

(Cricket news) The Indian team has suffered a massive blow ahead of the 2nd test at Visakhapatnam. Star Indian players Kl Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the test match after suffering injuries.

Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury on the fourth day of the 1st test match. The injury occurred when he dashed for a quick single and was run out by Ben stokes during India’s second innings. Kl Rahul, meanwhile, complained of right quadriceps pain and will miss the game.

The selection committee has added the trio of Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to the squad for the second Test – all of whom were part of the India A side in the ongoing series against England Lions as the replace for the duo.

Sarfaraz’s consistency has finally been rewarded as he gets a maiden India call-up. Sarfaraz comes into the squad fresh off a scintillating 160-ball 161 – with 18 fours and 5 sixes – in the second unofficial Test between India A and England Lions last week. Saurabh Kumar too was instrumental in that innings victory for the home side, picking a fifer in the second innings.

Rahul and Jadeja both have integral to India’s success in the last few years. Jadeja has been the backbone of the side with his all-round performances, while Rahul has been very impressive post his injury last IPL. The absence of these two players is not a very good sign for the team, given that India are coming off a loss in the 1st test and are also without Virat Kohli who pulled out of the first two tests due to personal reasons.

India squad for 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, Saurabh Kumar.
