Durban Super Giants registers a commanding win over Paarl Royals

(Cricket news) Durban Super Giants rolled over the Paarl royals with a commanding 125-run victory and did the double over the Royals in this edition the SA20. Thanks to fifties from Matthew Breetzke and Heinrich Klaasen, the Super Giants amassed a massive 208/7. Noor Ahmad then claimed his first T20 fifer as the Super Giants bowled the Royals out for 83.

Electing to bat, Super Giants had a shaky start, being reduced to 25/2 inside 4 overs. However Breetzke ensured to steady the ship and kept the scorecard moving with his 43-ball 78. He along with Stoinis stitched a century partnership before the Royals responded with some quick wickets to reduce the Super Giants to 151/5 after 17 overs.

The Royals intended to limit the hosts to a score of less than 180, but Klaasen had other plans. His late burst, a 16-ball fifty which included 6 maximums before being removed off the final ball, propelled the Super Giants to a commanding total.

The Royals’ chase was off to a bad start as they lost Jason Roy and Jos Buttler in the opening three overs. Noor’s explosive spell—during which he was twice on a hat-trick—snatched the game from the Royals, as the wrist spinner concluded with 5-11 to dismiss the team in 13.2 overs, Mitchell Van Buuren’s along with Jason Roy were the only batters who managed to cross the two figure mark as the Royals were bowled out for 83.
