(Football news) Karim Benzema came to Real Madrid from Lyon at the age of 21. Since then Benzema has gone on to win every collective trophy multiple times. He recently scored 200 La Liga goals as a Real Madrid player.

Benzema formed a formidable attacking partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Real Madrid were unbeatable when the trio known as BBC was causing a riot. Amidst all these team successes, Benzema's contribution was always ignored. Benzema spent the majority of his Real Madrid career playing 2nd fiddle to Ronaldo. Which meant his numbers were never great but his performance was exactly what was needed from a team's perspective.

The Frenchman has played under 8 different managers at Real Madrid all of whom have used Benzema as their first choice striker which is a proof of his quality. Things changed when Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018 and Real Madrid decided to not sign a direct replacement for him. Benzema has handed all the responsibility of Los Blancos attack. Since Ronaldo's departure he has scored 95 goals and created another 38. 

This season for the first time since 2018, Real Madrid has played an attacking brand of football and Benzema has been at the center of it all. The Frenchman already has 8 goals and 7 assists this season which is more than anybody else. Benzema has been a loyal servant of Los Blancos who has always done what was required instead of what he was capable of. 

At the age of 33 Benzema is still going strong playing almost every game for club and country. The Frenchman still has 2 more years in his Real Madrid contract and if he keeps scoring at this rate then the extension offer is just around the corner.
