(Cricket News) Bazball diminished like 9 pins yet again, this time in Dharamsala, as the Indian attack ran havoc through the English batting order. India registered a mammoth victory over England by an innings and 64 runs to seal the series 4-1.
Coming into bat on Day 3, the resistance from Kuldeep and Bumrah could not last for too long, as the English bowlers cleaned up the Indian innings, with Anderson picking his 700th wicket in form of Kuldeep Yadav, while Bashir picked up another fifer by dismissing Bumrah. The Indian innings ended on 477 with a lead of 259 runs.
England coming into bat faltered yet again, as none of the batters except Joe Root, managed to deal with the quality of Indian bowling. Ashwin starting from one end for India cleaned up Ben Duckett in his very first over, off a ball that was tossed up. Crawley’s innings did not last long as well, and Pope followed soon giving Ashwin his third scalp of the day.
Bairstow then joined Joe Root and smacked some mighty blows and scored quick runs. However, Kuldeep Yadav yet again weaved his magic in his very first over and caught Bairstow in front of the stumps off a ball that turned sharply. Stokes’ poor run continued as he was cleaned up by Ashwin off an exceptional delivery, on the second last ball before lunch.
Joe Root held one end, while wickets kept on falling in bunches from the other. Root scored a wonderful 84 and displayed some real class. Ashwin on the other hand picked up a fifer in his 100th test and was accompanied well by the other bowlers. Kuldeep and Bumrah yet again bowled beautifully and scalped 2 wickets each.
Bazball didn’t have a very good series, neither did they manage to end it on a high. However it was a pretty closely contested series, with England having their share of chances, which they failed to capitalize on that ultimately costed them the series 4-1. India on the other hand were world class, despite missing some of their key players. The young bunch of players showcased a lot of skill and talent and helped the side to a dominating series win.
