(Football news) Hugo Lloris has been diagnosed with a knee injury that will keep him out for around 6-8 weeks. Spurs on the weekend defeated Manchester City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The victory gave Spurs a much needed boost as they chase a Champions League spot. Skipper Hugo Lloris pulled off a couple of impressive saves but now he will be out for a chunk of time. The news is absolutely devastating for Spurs who are in a very fiery race for top 4 and are still in the UEFA Champions League as well as the FA Cup.

At the age of 36 Hugo Lloris’ career at Tottenham Hotspur is definitely on its last legs. Having said that he is still very important for the side. His presence in the team as a goalkeeper and a captain is very important. Fraser Forster will take over as the first choice goalkeeper. Last time Lloris suffered a long term injury in 2019, they resigned their former player Michel Vorm. They could sign someone even though they have young academy keepers Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin in the squad. According to reports Tottenham could ask former Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster to come out of retirement.

Fraser Forster has plenty of experience playing in the Premier League with Southampton. At this point Spurs would have loved to have someone like Pierluigi Gollini who was on loan at Spurs in the 2021/22 season. Tottenham will be hoping that Lloris has a speedy recovery as they will need his services in the last part of the season. Tottenham’s next fixture is away against Leicester City after which they have the important Champions League Round of 16 tie against current Serie A holders AC Milan. Harry Kane expected to don the captain’s armband in the absence of Hugo Lloris.
