(Football News) Henderson officially confirmed his departure from Liverpool, ending his remarkable 12-year journey with the Merseyside club. It is expected that he will soon be moving to Saudi Arabia, specifically to join Al-Ettifaq.

The 33-year-old midfielder is on the verge of completing a transfer to Al-Ettifaq, following reports of Liverpool agreeing to a deal worth $15.5 million for their former captain, who played a pivotal role in the club’s success in the Premier League and Champions League.

Henderson expressed his farewell to the fans through a video posted on his Instagram account.

From the Anfield dressing room, he expressed, “Being made the captain of Liverpool Football Club was one of the greatest honors of my life. From the day I received the armband, I strived to conduct myself in a manner befitting a Liverpool captain. Yet, the most significant honors at Liverpool were not personal; they were shared. It was about all of us, all of you, standing united.”

During his time at Liverpool, Henderson achieved every major club accolade, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title a year later. The latter triumph put an end to Liverpool’s 30-year-long quest to regain the English championship.

He concluded with a heartfelt message, “Just know that I will always remain a Red, till the end of my days. Thank you for everything. You’ll never walk alone.” However, he did not mention his next destination or plans.

Should Henderson make the move to Al-Ettifaq, he would have the opportunity to join forces with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who was recently appointed as the manager of the Saudi Pro League team.
