Gonzalo Montiel, a right back for Sevilla, has reportedly reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest

(Football news) After converting the go-ahead penalties for Argentina and Sevilla in the World Cup and Europa League finals last season, Montiel has gained international recognition.

Along with these accomplishments, Montiel also won the Copa America and Copa Libertadores with River Plate and Argentina, respectively. Montiel will move to the City Ground for a fee of €11 million (£9.4 million) under the terms of an agreement agreed between the two teams.

A medical appointment is set for Monday, and personal terms are almost ready to be agreed upon. Even though Montiel maintained his composure in the most stressful situations, he is not a regular for either club or nation.

While Nahuel Molina of Atletico Madrid is favoured on the international stage, club captain Jesus Navas continues to be ahead of the 26-year-old at Sevilla.  But as Forest looks to keep their spot in the Premier League this year, Steve Cooper and his team should find a lot of value in having experience at the highest level.

This information may validate the rumours regarding Serge Aurier’s future after his outstanding performance in their 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Friday in which he registered two assists.

Despite only signing a new one-year contract with the club earlier this summer, the Ivorian has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Ola Aina has been deployed as a left-back due to their current lack of options there, therefore additional coverage at right-back may also be required. Aina’s possible departure for the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria midway through the season may create another potential complication for Cooper.

This summer, Sevilla made their whole playing roster open for transfer due to financial issues, and Montiel appears to be the next player to leave. After Sevilla’s UEFA Super Cup loss to Manchester City on penalties earlier this week, keeper Bono completed a transfer to Al-Hilal earlier this week.

The two club and national team comrades might face off against one another in the Premier League this season. Fellow Argentine full-back Marcos Acuna has also been strongly linked with a move to Aston Villa.
