(Football news) When Anthony Elanga made his debut for Manchester United’s first team last season after a turbulent campaign under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, expectations for him were high.

Elanga appeared to be a bright spot for fans who had lost interest in the team due to their lacklustre performances as United ended sixth in the Premier League rankings and had three managers in charge throughout the 38-game domestic season.

With goals against Brentford, Leeds, and Atletico Madrid, he showed plenty of promise, and everything appeared to be in place for him to become the next academy star to rise through the ranks and achieve success.

However, Anthony Elanga’s advancement dramatically slowed down after Erik ten Hag showed up at Old Trafford. Under the new manager, the Swede’s influence was noticeably diminished. The forward had to mostly make do with a spot on the bench the entire season.

Elanaga only made 15 appearances in the league, the majority of which were as a substitute. The 21-year-old participated in 26 games over all competitions. When the chance arose, he failed to score even one goal to demonstrate his efforts on the pitch.

Ten Hag favoured a number of players above the versatile teenager, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Anthony Martial, and even the underwhelming Wout Weghorst. It makes sense to ultimately arrange Elanga’s departure now that a striker is anticipated to be acquired in the upcoming weeks.

Outsiders can see that he has little to no chance of interfering with Ten Hag’s intentions unless something unexpected occurs.

Elanga will only fall lower down the hierarchy with the addition of players like Randal Kolo Muani or Rasmus Hojlund, who are United’s top targets as strikers. The international player from Sweden will find it increasingly harder to get playing time, which will only impede his growth and career success.

Although Anthony Elanag is now with Manchester United in America for preseason, it is believed he will return home for a medical. The excellent first-team debut of the 21-year-old Sweden international, who has been with United since he was 12 years old, came in 2021.

But in 26 games for the team last year, he was scoreless. Anthony Elanga, who scored four goals in 55 games for United, was also a target of Everton, who attempted to sign him on a loan in January.

In contrast to the club’s 29 additions from the previous season, Anthony Elanga would be the first summer signing for Nottingham Forest. Although Anthony Elanga won’t be joining Everton, the 21-year-old may still depart on loan later in the summer season.
