Real Madrid flops joining Atletico Madrid is becoming a trend?

(Football news) According to reliable reports, Sergio Reguilon is joining Atletico Madrid on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The Spaniard will replace Renan Lodi who is off to Nottingham Forest. Reguilon came through the ranks of Real Madrid, broke into the first team and played 14 games in the 2018/19 season. Now he is about to cross the divide and go to the Rojiblancos. Real Madrid fans will definitely not be happy with that as he was a fan favorite who showed some great passion for the club in the short period he was there. Reguilon's quality and the fight he showed on the pitch is something all Madrid fans loved but the club didn't back and decided to sell him first on loan to Sevilla and then permanently to Tottenham Hotspur.

Reguilon's loan spell at Sevilla was a massive success and his start at Tottenham Hotspur wasn't bad either. Eventually he started to become more and more inconsistent in the Premier League and lost his place to Ryan Sessegnon. Before the start of this season Antonio Conte made it pretty clear that Reguilon was not a part of his plans as he had signed Ivan Perisic. The left back didn't play a single minute in Pre-season and has been searching for a new club. With a move to Atletico he will definitely anger Real Madrid fans but his decision is understandable. If he has no other offers and he gets a chance to play Champions League under a great manager like Diego Simeone then it might be worth changing allegiances.

Recently a lot of Real Madrid players have gone to Atletico Madrid after failing to succeed with Los Blancos like Marcos Llorente and Alvaro Morata. Reguilon will be fighting with Yannick Carrasco and Saul Niguez for a place in the side. Diego Simeone usually plays a 3-5-2 which suits Reguilon perfectly as his attacking game has always been better than his defending. Atletico Madrid massively underperformed last season and they will be keen to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona for the League title.
