La Liga returns as Atletico Madrid travel away to Sevilla

(Football news) La Liga is back in action after the international break. The big fixture of the weekend is between Sevilla and Atlético Madrid at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Julen Lopetegui is walking on thin ice, having won just 1 game this season as his side are 15th on the League table. Atletico on the other hand aren't doing too well themselves, having lost 2 games back to back before the break. Diego Simeone's men are 7th on the league table and this will be a very crucial match for them. Jesus Corona and Marcao are still unavailable due to injury for Sevilla. Atletico Madrid will be without Sergio Reguilon who is still injured while Mario Hermoso is suspended. Stefan Savic, Thomas Lemar and Jose Gimenez could all be back in contention.

Barcelona will be looking to keep up with league leaders Real Madrid as they play Mallorca away from home. The Blaugrana are in a decent position, having dropped points in just 1 La Liga game but the international break has caused big problems for Xavi. Ronald Araujo has undergone surgery and is likely to be out for a long time. Jules Kounde, Frenkie De Jong and Hector Bellerin are likely to be out till November. Barcelona will be considerably weaker in defence but they have the squad depth to cope with it this season. Mallorca have had a good start to the season as they are currently 10th on the table. The hosts will be without Timo Kadewere, Dominik Greif and Amath Ndiaye who are all injured. This will be a very important game for Barcelona as they have to keep their momentum going to try to keep up with Madrid and potentially overtake them.

Real Madrid have won all their games this season and they will be looking to continue their streak as they host Osasuna. The start of the season is absolutely perfect for the Merengues and the biggest takeaway is that they can cope without Karim Benzema. Los Blancos have also been affected by the international break as Luka Modric suffered an injury. Karim Benzema is all set to return to action as he has recovered from his injury while Lucas Vazquez is still not fit. This is the period where Real Madrid is going to be truly tested with the fixture constraint. Osasuna on the other hand will be without Kike Saverio and Chimy Avila.
