Here’s why Real Madrid should promote Sergio Arribas to the first team

(Football news) Real Madrid have won all 9 games so far this season as it has been an incredible start by Carlo Ancelotti's men. After the international break is when it gets tricky for them as they have to play 9 games in October including matches against Sevilla and Barcelona. Real Madrid's squad depth will be tested and to make matters worse, Luka Modric picked up an injury while playing the Nations League for Croatia. The Croatian is expected to miss games against Osasuna, Getafe, Shakhtar home and away. Real Madrid do have the option of Fede Valverde who is the obvious choice but Ancelotti may still want to use the Uruguayan at right wing. In that case Dani Ceballos or Eduardo can take up that role.

One name which Carlo Ancelotti seems to have forgotten is Sergio Arribas. The 21 year old midfielder has been playing for the Real Madrid B team since 2020. Zinedine Zidane was a big fan of the midfielder and he had called him up for quite a few games. Since Carlo Ancelotti took over, Arrisbas hasn't made a single appearance for the first team. The Spaniard has been performing consistently for Castilla since the past two years. He even rejected several offers from other clubs to stay in Madrid to try and break into the first team. Ancelotti has been watching several Castilla games live and this is the best time to call-up Arribas and give him some game time.

Even if he isn't on the level to succeed at Madrid, playing a few minutes for the first team might attract some loan offers or even permanent ones with buy back clauses. There is a lot of competition in midfield but Arribas hasn't even got a single opportunity yet which he definitely deserves. Arribas is also different to all the other options Ancelotti has as he is a goalscoring midfielder who can play on either wing as well. The Real Madrid board had convinced Arribas in the summer that the best thing for him would be to stay in Madrid and play for Castilla but he definitely won't stick around for longer if he doesn't get a chance to play in the first team.
