(Football news) After just 1 season at Barcelona Memphis Depay is reportedly in talks with the club to terminate his contract. Juventus are leading the race to sign Depay on a two year contract for free. The Dutchman was reportedly offered to Tottenham Hotspur but Antonio Conte was not keen on the move. Juventus have already completed 4 signings this summer and Depay would be the 5th. Barcelona will be looking to terminate the contract as soon as possible because they are still unable to register their new signings. 

Depay's move to Barcelona has been nothing short of a failure. The forward joined Barcelona in 2021 from Lyon for free. In his only season at FC Barcelona, Depay played 36 games getting 13 goals and 2 assists. Depay's season was ruined by injuries which is a shame because when fit he did play well for the Blaugrana. He spent 74 days on the sidelines hamstring, thigh and achilles injury which meant that he never really settled at the club. In January Barcelona signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who played as the main striker for the rest of the season and now Robert Lewandowski is at Barcelona and is likely to be the main man for them.

Juventus already have Moise Kean and Dusan Vlahovic as number 9s. Depay is likely to played as 2nd striker or a right winger for the Old Lady. Juventus finished 4th in the Serie A and went trophyless last season. This time around they have made a few very good signings but at the same time have lost Paulo Dybala, Matthijs De Ligt and Giorgio Chiellini. Adrien Rabiot is also reportedly on his way to Juventus. It will be a changed team for Juventus and they will be looking to win a piece of silverware this season.
