(Football news)Defending champions Bayern Munich made it two wins from two matches as they comfortably beat visitors VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 on Sunday with goals from Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller. The Bavarian giants have now scored eight goals in their first two league matches as they were lethal in attack, especially in the first half, with Sadio Mane, Muller and Musiala wreaking havoc in the Wolfsburg defence. Mane also put the ball in the net twice but his efforts were cancelled after a VAR review for offside.

Alphonso Davies almost scored an own goal at the very beginning which would've been disastrous for Bayern. He tried to clear a header but his effort bounced off the post in the fifth minute, with Wolfsburg enjoying a confident start. However, it didn’t last long as Bayern gradually started taking control and the German international Musiala showed great skill and power to shrug off two markers and drill the ball into the net for the lead in the 33rd minute.The 19-year-old became the first German player under the age of 20 to score 14 goals in the Bundesliga. Bayern attacks became more regular, Muller in his 417th Bundesliga game which lifted him to fourth on the all-time Bayern list, wrongfooted keeper Koen Casteels by poking in a Joshua Kimmich shot two minutes before the break. Wolfsburg, who are led by former Bayern coach Niko Kovac, rarely had a look-in the match with just one shot on target in the entire game.

"It was obviously not the big show of the first two matches [including Bayern's 5-3 Super Cup win over RB Leipzig]," Muller said. The Bavarians had crushed Eintracht Frankfurt 6-1 in their Bundesliga opener last week.

"We struggled a bit in the first 10 minutes. Wolfsburg played a lot of long balls to get out of our pressing. We needed some time but got going and maybe we could have scored one or two more goals."

"With all due respect Bayern are in a different class," Wolfsburg's Maximilian Arnold said. "We still had a few chances and you have to score when you get them. Then it could be a different game."

Timo Werner scored on his RB Leipzig return but his team twice gave away the lead to settle for a 2-2 draw against FC Koln. Germany international Werner returned to Leipzig this week after two underwhelming years at Chelsea as he fired a dipping shot from outside the box at Cologne keeper Marvin Schwaebe, who let it slip through his hands to gift the host the lead in the 36th minute. The hosts drew 1-1 against VfB Stuttgart last week and also lost to Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup as they had earlier put the ball in the net twice only for VAR to over-rule them.

Leipzig's lead was short-lived, with Florian Dietz stabbing the ball home for the equaliser four minutes later after catching the Leipzig defence napping.The hosts got into even deeper trouble when Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai was dismissed with a straight red card for elbowing Florian Kainz in the first-half stoppage time. Christopher Nkunku who was Bundesliga's player of the season in the previous campaign, took matters into his own hands i and put the hosts in front with a fine finish after a run into the box in the 56th minute.But Cologne bounced back courtesy of Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol's own goal in the 72nd after he turned a corner into his own net.
